Hastings Respite Care is designed to provide short term relief to parents or families of persons with special needs such as mental issues, cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy, as well as the chronically ill and the elderly. The aim of this program is to prevent parent or family burnout and to provide support during periods of stress or crisis.
Our Program recruits and trains people who are interested in sharing their time and energy to assist families with special needs members. Once trained and certified as respite care providers, they will be matched with families who call to request services. Families may call a respite provider when they need to get away to relax, run errands, go shopping or just enjoy themselves. Respite Care Providers charge differently depending on the families needs, but services usually run about $10.00 per hour.
Hastings Respite Care also hosts many Caregiver support and training programs throughout the year.
Four times a year, Hastings Respite Care conducts Caregiver "Night Out" Support Group meetings.
